She was on her way to earning an MBA from Johns Hopkins’s Carey Business School. She’d spent years in international marketing. For her 30th birthday, she went bungee jumping. But Jayna Murray’s life ended in the most brutal of ways last Friday night, when she was beaten to death in a Bethesda yoga clothing store Lululemon where she worked. The breaking news is that her coworker Brittany Norwood is about to be charged in her murder.  In the past week, the news reported that two masked men raped them both, killed Jayna, and tied up Brittany who was found in the back of the store Saturday morning.  After a week-long investigation, it appears Brittany made up the story and actually killed Jayna in cold blood in the store after hours.  Reports say Murray received “catastrophic” injuries that rattled even longtime law enforcement officers.

The weekend of March 18, we ask that you light a candle in honor of Jayna Troxell Murray. We stand in solidarity with Jayna’s friends, family, co-workers, classmates, and everyone who was touched by Jayna’s life.

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jayna Troxel Murray Foundation, which they describe as “a non-profit entity that will be dedicated to promoting those interests that were most important to Jayna: academics, athletics, travel, and fine arts.” Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 9492, The Woodlands, Texas, 77387
